PROGRAM FOCUS

Heading into the 2nd year, the primary focus of Bintang Laut remains teaching experiential, locally-developed Marine Environmental Education lessons in 7 target schools in locations representative of the Bunaken National Park region:  Manado Tua, Mentehage, Nain, Bunaken, Tonkeina (North Coast) and Kumu (South Coast).

The focus of the program is to work together with the local schools and teachers to fulfill the weekly Local Component of the curriculum with Experiential Marine Environmental Education, and invite students on a Field Trip to the Marine Environmental Education Centre at Liang Beach, Bunaken Island.

Bintang Laut also runs the program "Teacher's Day Out", a training workshop for local teachers.  This program teaches teachers how they might incorporate Experiential Marine Environmental Education into their curriculum.
